Akumcha Mobit: Brother on the Move

by | May 23, 2024 | Uncategorized

Brother Akumcha Mobit, a newly initiated member of the Spring 2024 Omicron Psi Chapter and now a senior at Delta State University, is making impressive strides. Despite dealing with autism, Mobit finished his junior year with a 3.7 GPA and is deeply committed to his major in psychology.

Mobit, along with other members of the DSU McNair Foundation, recently attended a weekend of workshops and seminars at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Held from May 21-23, 2024, this boot camp offered sessions on personal statements, GRE preparation, funding, school/life balance, and more. Participants had the opportunity to network with graduate school representatives and interact with former McNair Scholars who are current graduate students. This summer, Mobit was selected to conduct research with the McNair Foundation.

As OPsi’s undergraduate chapter’s first international brother, Mobit serves as the Chapter’s Vice President and as Parliamentarian of the university’s National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC). Originally from Cameroon, Africa, he now resides with his family in Madison, MS.

Brother Edward H. Hill, President of the Epsilon Xi Lambda Chapter, praised Mobit, stating, “We are proud to have a very respectful, well-rounded young brother in the House of Alpha!” Onward and upward, good brother…
